Earth, the third planet from the Sun, the only astronomical object known to harbor life, and the beautiful home for all human needs our help to flourish and thrive! This is why we celebrate April 22, annually as it is Earth Day! The day in which over a billion people honor and commemorate support for the protection of a clean, and sustainable habitat for all living beings on this planet.

Being celebrated since 1970, Earth Day continues to be a phenomenal event where ideally, people can express their love for the Earth.

As everyone has different opinions and perspectives, it is important to understand the big question, “What does the Earth Mean to Me?”.

To me personally, as a sophomore in High School, I take for granted the world in which we live in today. As there are larger world issues we face nowadays, the simple pronoun “Earth” is not always taken into consideration but logically speaking, it is involved in not one, but ALL of our major world crises making it an exceptionally important word.

To put into context, the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s) set by the United Nations General Assembly are all goals to improve the well-being of our environment, the Earth. Hence, from a large spectrum, every action we take affects this green and blue planet in which we all consider our homes.

Therefore, to me, Earth is the place in which I would call my home. This is why it is so important to restore our planet to work towards the goal of a better world from a utilitarian perspective of a greater good rather than just for me or just for you.

But, how can you help to support environmental protection on a daily but particularly celebrate on April 22? Annually, there is a theme that is given by the Earth Day organization, and this year, the theme is “Restore our Earth”.

What should you do to restore our Earth on this day? What actions can you take to keep the environment as well as the people in it happy?

To start off this long process of cleansing our Earth, it is a principal move to know exactly, what impact do I have on my society? After knowing this, you can tweak your daily lifestyle to slowly go environmentally friendly by making small changes such as using reusable bags at supermarkets, reusable water bottles on the contrary of plastic one-time use, and so much more!

To spread awareness, hashtags such as #EarthDay2021, #SaveTheEarth, #ClimateChange, and more can be used on platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, to share the word. It truly is worth it to look back on our environmental footprint to slowly improve and clean up our wellbeing to live a happier life.

As the famous Michael Jackson once said, “Heal and world and make it a better place.”

Climate and COP Negotiations Lobbying Crisis

Climate and COP Lobbying Crisis The climate crisis is a pressing concern that must be addressed rapidly and effectively with concrete action. How?  Climate crisis issues can be resolved by reducing emissions and increasing renewable energy sources, transitioning to a Circular Economy, investing in green infrastructure, and adopting holistic strategies that address the underlying causes of climate change. These measures are essential if we are to avoid catastrophic environmental consequences. Furthermore, they create an opportunity for innovation and economic growth by developing and implementing new low-carbon technologies and sustainable business models. It is also essential to build resilience and adaptive capacity in our communities. This means investing in infrastructure that helps people cope with the impacts of climate change, such as sea-level rise, extreme weather events, and flooding, among other methods. It also involves developing innovative approaches to reduce emissions a
